Right Crankcase Cover Oil Seals Inspection and Replacement 1. Inspect the kickstarter (Figure 3) and mainshaft (Figure 4)seals and replace if worn or damaged. 2. Pry the oil seal out of the cover with a wideblade screwdriver. Pad the screwdriver to prevent it from damaging the cover. 3. Clean the oil seal bore. 4. Pack the lips of the new seal with grease. 5 . Align the new seal with the cover so that its closed side is facing out. Then install the seal until it bottoms out in its mounting Remove the carburetor clamp screws (Figure 4) and remove the carburetors from the cylinder head. 3. Remove the footrests (Figure 5). 4. Remove the kickstarter (Figure 6). 5. Remove the righthand crankcase cover and gasket (Figure 7). 6. Slacken

brake.adjusting nut (Figure 8). 7. Tap the case with a rubber or plastic mallet to loosen it, then lift case off (Figure 9). NOTE Be sure thrust washer remains on shaft. It can be found inside the case if it is missing. 8. On opposite side of engine Remove the 2 dowel pins (Figure 7) and gasket. Discard the gasket if damaged. 1 1. On YZ125 models, remove the Oring (Figure 8) installed between the righthand crankcase cover and case half, if used. 12. The governor assembly is installed in the right hand crankcase cover. If necessary, service the governor as described in this chapter. 13. Service the water pump, oil seal(s) and bearing as described in Chapter Ten. 14. Remove all gasket residue from the cover and case half Those that

A crankcase cover is a removable cover on the crankcase that allows access to the crankshaft.(2) Seal air inlet openings in left and right turbosuperchargers (fig. 81). (3) Seal oil filler and indicator tube caps (fig. 12 or 17L c. Remove Engine Cooling Fans. Remove engine cooling vanes and cooling fans (fig. 434 and 435}. The fans are removed in order to gain access to

several.of the points of application of the soap solution (f, below). d. Install Sleeve Spacer. Install two fan rotor hub sleeve spacers 49107957952, to prevent oil seepage (fig. 487). e. Apply Air Pressure.clamps at this time. Install flywheel end shroud plate with tube assembled in two shroud plate spring clips (K, fig. 184) on flywheel end of crankcase. (2) Position connecting hose (A) with two hose clamps (H) on short end of right intake manifold balance tube (G). Insert right balance tube through rubber grommet in No. 6R cylinder air deflector and into connecting hose installed on end of left balance tube. Install hoses assembled on ends of right and left balance tubes on hose nipples of 7 main bearing engine crankcase rod from

right.side of crankcase. o. Remove twelve cotter pins, slotted nuts (1, fig. 3 127) and six plate washers from twelve engine crankcase rods (2), hold rod nuts on opposite end as necessary to keep rods from turning while removing nuts. Remove cotter pins and slotted nut (8) from upper engine crankcase rod and remove cotter pin and slotted nut from opposite side (left) of lower rod (4). Using a suitable brass rod push the 18 engine crankcase Ron Wright. 12. Secure the clutch housing with the same tool used during removal. Tighten the clutch nut to the torque specification in Table 2. 13. 1986on: Bend the lockwasher tab to lock the washer against the clutch nut. 14. Install the washer onto the pusher (Figure 75). Then insert the

pusher/washer.into the pusher holder (Figure 76). 15. Install the pusher plate assembly (Figure 77). 16. Install the clutch cover as described in this chapter. Loosen the locknut (A, Figure 66) and turn the adjuster (B, Figure 66) in or out to obtain the correct amount of free play. NOTE If the proper amount of free play cannot be achieved at the hand lever, additional adjustment can be made at the clutch actuating lever on the righthand crankcase cover. 2. On FZ600 models, remove the righthand lower fairing as described under Fig. 4. Diagram of Rutenber engine showing pocket indicated
